Fish Tales Colossal Catch Link & Loot takes us back to Booming Games’ increasingly busy fishing spot. This time, we are not relying on a fisherman to collect fish symbols but instead, fish can link together and grow into colossal fish symbols. And the bigger the fish the bigger the rewards.
You have a standard 5×3 reel setup with 10 fixed pay lines. However, the Link & Loot feature makes it busier than your regular fishing slot. You also get free spins, bonus boosters and fixed jackpots up to 2,500x. Lastly, there is a max win of 10,000x. So, does the game live up to its colossal name? Check out our review below for more details.

You can play the Fish Tales Colossal Catch demo slot for free down below. Demo mode uses virtual credits, so you can try the features without risking any real money. Wins begin on the first reel and must continue across adjacent reels. There are only 10 pay lines, so the base game can sometimes feel a little quiet. Whereas a Barrel Boost or one of the bonus rounds makes the game more interesting. Here is a quick guide to playing Colossal Catch Link & Loot.
- Select your stake using the bet controls. Place a bet of £0.10 – £100.
- Press the spin button to start spinning.
- Land three or more matching symbols across active pay lines to create a wins.
- Look out for fish symbols and scatter symbols that activate the main features.
Winning Combos & Payouts
There are 9 common pay symbols in the game. Five symbols are low paying, whereas four are high paying symbols. Wins are formed when 3 or more of the same symbols, land adjacently on a pay line. Compared to some other fishing slots, base game payouts are actually quite good.
- High Value Symbols: Fishing Boats, Tackle Boxes, Bait and Life Rings. Payouts range from 1x – 200x.
- Low Value Symbols: 5 Card symbols (10, J , Q, K and A). Payouts range from 0.2x – 10x.
Special Symbols
In addition to common pay symbols, there are also 3 special symbols: wilds, fish and scatters.
Fisherman Wild
The fisherman is the wild symbol. They can only appear on reels two, three and four, substituting for the common paying symbols. Wilds cannot replace special symbols and do not collect fish.
Bonus Scatter
Scatter symbols are your key to the free spins bonus round. Landing 3 or more scatter symbols trigger eight free spins. If you land four or five scatters, then you also receive a 5x or 20x win multiplier, respectively.
Fish Symbols
These symbols carry cash values and are trigger the Link & Loot feature. You need at least six fish symbols to enter the bonus. The fish link together to form larger colossal fish which can award cash or jackpots.
Fish Tales Colossal Catch Bonus Features
There are two main bonus features in Fishing Tales Colossal Catch. First you have the Link & Loot feature and secondly you have a free spins bonus round.
Link & Loot
Link & Loot is the main attraction and the best part of the game. It triggers when six or more fish symbols land or when the Barrel Boost activates it. You start off with five bonus spins. Only blank spaces and fish symbols can appear during these spins.
When Fish symbols land next to each other, they link together to create a large colossal fish symbol. These can range from a single 1×1 fish to a huge 5×3 fish covering the entire grid. The general rule is simple: the bigger the fish becomes, the better the payout.
At the end of the feature, any fish values remaining on the grid are added together and paid out. Individual fish values can be as high as 2,500x.
Five spins are not all that many and the feature cannot be re-triggered. So, a bonus round will often end quickly when the fish refuse to connect.
Colossal Fish Prizes
Colossal symbols can reveal one of four jackpot prizes seen in the table below. Smaller colossal fish can award either a Mini or Minor jackpot. Larger colossal symbols award Major jackpots. A full grid sized symbol awards a Grand jackpot.
| Fixed Prize | Value |
|---|---|
| Mini | 10x |
| Minor | 50x |
| Major | 250x |
| Grand | 2,500x |
Barrel Boost Feature
In the base game, every fish symbol that lands is added to the barrel above the reels. As more fish go into the barrel, the catch grows and eventually the barrel will break open and activate a boost feature. When triggered, the barrel adds extra fish symbols to the grid, which can link up and trigger the Link & Loot feature.
Fish Tales Colossal Catch Free Spins
Landing three or more scatter symbols triggers eight free spins. The feature does not come with a list of modifiers. Instead, it increases your chance of triggering a Link & Loot feature. Fish are still collected by the barrel, and landing enough of them can activate the main bonus during the free spins.
Therefore, free spins are just another way to trigger the Link & Loot bonus. Unlike, other free spins bonus rounds, you re-trigger more spins.
Boost+ and Bonus Buy Options
The Boost+ option is basically an Ante Bet, and it increases the total cost of each spin by 50%. In return, your chances of triggering free spins or Link & Loot increase. Boost+ is available for UK players. If you are not in the UK, then you can take advantage of a bonus buy option too.
- Regular free spins cost 100x your bet.
- Super free spins cost 150x your bet and give a better chance of triggering Link & Loot.
Conclusion
Colossal Catch Link & Loot is another bright fishing slot from Booming Games in the Fishing Tales series. The game looks polished and the colossal symbol mechanic gives it a little more character. Link & Loot is where most of the fun sits and surprisingly the base game payouts are very decent. We also enjoyed a fresh take on a fishing slot bonus round. Linking up fish for bigger catches was a nice surprise compared to the usual fish collection sequences.
UK players may not be so happy to encounter the lower RTP versions of this game, But the relatively good base game wins and max win potential makes up for that. So, we recommend playing this slot.
