Fish Tales Double Catch is another version of Booming Games familiar fisherman collection setup. It follows Fish Tales Monster Bass, but this time the bonus have two progress trails. One improves the Fish multipliers, and the second adds extra Free Spins. This is why it is called Double Catch.
You also get the Big Net Modifier and Barrel Boost for some extra action in the base game. So not all the fun is in the bonus round. The best RTP we found is 96.1%, but much lower versions are also being used by some UK casinos. So check the slot information and paytable before playing.

There are no cascading reels, Megaways or cluster wins here. It is a traditional payline slot with most of its mechanics are built around the Fish symbols. If you want to play with real money have a look at one of our recommended casinos above. Remember to check the RTP before depositing.
Winning Combos & Payouts
Matching symbols must land across adjacent reels from the left. The fishing boat is the highest-paying standard symbol, payout being 200x your bet for five. Standard line wins are reasonably good at the top end. However, most of the big win potential comes from collecting Fish values with multipliers during the bonus feature.
- High Value Symbols: Fishing Boat, Tackle Box, Mixed Fish and Lifebuoy, max payout for 5 in a row go from 20x to 200x.
- Low Value Symbols: A and K pay a max of 10x. Q, J or 10 only give you 5x for 5 of a kind.
Special Symbols
Fisherman Wild
The fisherman is the Wild and thus substitutes for regular paying symbols. During Free Spins, it is also use as a collector for every visible Fish value.
Bonus Scatter
The fishing float is the Bonus Scatter. You will need to land a minimum of three to trigger the bonus with 10 freespins, four or five Scatters trigger 15 and 20 Free Spins.
Fish Symbols
Fish symbols can display values of 1x, 2x, 3x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x or 100x your bet. They are collected by Wilds during Free Spins or by the Big Net in the base game.
Fish Tales Double Catch Bonus & Features
The bonus round is the Free Spins which is triggered by landing at least three Bonus Scatters. During the bonus, the fisherman Wild collects the Fish symbols on the reels. If more than one Wild land with Fish symbols, each fisherman makes a separate collection of the fish values. And it is also here the “Double Catch” part of the slot becomes clear. There are two progress trails that you can see one beneath and one above the reels in the bonus round. One of them upgrades the Fish prizes, while the other gives you additional spins.
| Bonus Scatters | Free Spins |
|---|---|
| 3 Scatters | 10 Free Spins |
| 4 Scatters | 15 Free Spins |
| 5 Scatters | 20 Free Spins |
Fish Trail
The Fish Trail increases the multiplier applied to collected Fish values. As you progress along the trail, every Fish prize can eventually receive a multiplier of up to 10x. For example, a 20x Fish with the full 10x multiplier becomes worth 200x your bet when collected. Note that several Fish symbols can be collected together. The trail resets when the feature ends.
Wild Trail
The Wild Trail keeps track of the fisherman Wild symbols landing during Free Spins. Reaching its reward points adds more spins to the remaining total. You can receive up to a maximum of 20 additional Free Spins. So a bonus starting with 20 spins could potentially be 40 spins in total. Scatter symbols do not retrigger. Instead, the Wild Trail is what give you the extra spins.
Barrel Boost Feature
Each Bonus Scatter that lands without triggering Free Spins is added to the barrel above the reels. The Barrel Boost can then activate randomly and add extra Scatters to the grid. If enough scatters are added you trigger the Free Spins. As per usual the number of Scatters decide how many spins you get 10, 15 or 20.
Big Net Modifier
The Big Net Modifier can trigger randomly in the base game when Fish symbols are visible. A large fishing net animation sweep over the reels and collects every Fish on the grid. So it is possible to collect Fish symbols without triggering Free Spins or landing a fisherman Wild.
Extra Bait Feature
Extra Bait is the optional ante bet. Switching it on raises your bet 50% per spin. It increases the chance of triggering features. Note that any wins are still based on the original base stake and not the 50% increased amount.
Fish Tales Double Catch Bonus Buy
Bonus Buy options are available outside the UK:
- The standard Bonus costs 75x the bet.
- The Gold Bonus costs 150x and applies a 2x multiplier to Fish prizes.
- The Mystery Bonus costs 250x and adds a mystery Fish multiplier.
UK players cannot use Bonus Buy. You must trigger Free Spins through the Scatters or Barrel Boost instead. Extra Bait may still be available because it changes the feature odds rather than purchasing a guaranteed bonus.
Fish Tales Double Catch Max Scatter
Fish Tales Double Catch Max Scatter is a newer version of the original slot, it keeps the same 5×3 grid, 10 paylines and 10,000x maximum win. It also still has the Fish collection, Barrel Boost and two progress trails during Free Spins.
The new addition is the new Max Scatter symbol. Regular Scatters and Max Scatters can combine to trigger the bonus round. Therefore, you do not need three matching Max Scatters. Any Max Scatters on the triggering spin also award an instant win. And this payout before the Free Spins begin. It can give you from 100x up to 10,000x depending how many scatters you landed.
Both regular Scatters and Max Scatters are also collected in the Barrel Boost pot. When Barrel Boost activates, it can add more triggering symbols to the reels. This gives you another chance to complete a mixed Scatter combination and trigger the bonus. Once Free Spins begin, the game works like the normal Double Catch version. Fisherman Wilds collect the visible Fish prizes. Fish and Wild symbols also move their progress trails forward. The Fish Trail can increase Fish prizes up to 10x, while the Wild Trail can award up to 20 additional Free Spins.
Conclusion
Fish Tales Double Catch have cash-valued Fish, a fisherman collector and Free Spins on a familiar 5×3 grid. We have seen that setup before. However, there is enough here to not be just another lazy re-skinned clone. You have the Big Net that can collect Fish during the base game and the Barrel Boost that give you an alternative way to trigger Free Spins. Both features make the regular spins a little more exciting.
The two bonus trails are the best part of the slot. Getting the multipliers up and chasing another 20 spins gives the bonus a sense of progression. When you manage to get both trails to improve early, the round can have really good potential. T
here are still a few less good parts. And the lower RTP versions are the biggest downer. The 96.1% version is where it should be, but if you encounter the 92% setting we recommend you spin elsewhere.
Overall, Fish Tales Double Catch is a solid entry among modern fishing slots, with a good 10,000x maximum win. The Big Net and dual trails give us more than just a fisherman waiting around for three Scatters.
