Fortune Kingfisher is an addition to the Kingfisher series by Wishbone. The last ones took us to Egypt in Kingfisher of the Sands and the one before was a pirate themed one called Kingfisher of the Caribbean. This time around the theme is Asian inspired and it also has a big change to the reel layout.
Previous slots in the series had a 5×3 layout, but now we get a 3×3 layout. And since there are less reels there are also less Egg-modifiers to crack. So let’s fire up the rice-paper lanterns, lets land some Ying Yang Jade and start cracking eggs.

Special Symbols
Additionally, there are two special symbols in Fortune Kingfisher: Kingfishers and Wilds.
Kingfisher Scatter
Kingfishers are scatter symbols. Every they land they create cracks in the eggs above them. Once an egg cracks, you trigger a bonus round with a bonus modifier. Moreover, kingfishers collect cash values from fish symbols in bonus rounds.
Wild Symbol
The wild substitutes for all common symbols, helping to form winning combos. Moreover, they also have their own pay out. If you land 3 wilds on a pay line, then you receive a 50x payout.
Fortune Kingfisher Bonus Games
To trigger bonus games you need to crack some eggs. Once the kingfisher cracks open an egg, then you receive 10 free spins with an unlocked bonus modifier. In this Kingfisher slot you can only crack one egg at a time, unlike Kingfisher of the Caribbean or Kingfisher of the Sands.
In the bonus round fish are added to the reels. They carry cash values, ranging from 0.2x to 500x your bet. When they land together with a kingfisher, then their cash is collected. Moreover, the bonus modifier is applied to the cash collection value too.
Cracked Egg Awards
There are 3 different types of bonus modifiers that can be unlocked. Each egg awards free spins and a different amount of modifiers.
- Green Egg: 10 free spins and 2 modifiers awarded
- Yellow Egg: 10 free spins and all 3 modifiers awarded.
- Blue Egg: 10 free spins with 1 modifier awarded.
Possible Modifiers
- Multiplier Modifier: This modifier starts on 1x, every-time the X symbol lands it will go up by one, max 5x. It multiplies all fish values on the reels.
- Adder Modifier: The adder starts on 0 and add +1 for each + symbol that lands. It adds its value to each fish symbol, max value is 5x your bet.
- Respin Modifier: Respins uses heart symbols and add these to the respin box, each heart is a chance. When a kingfisher or fish symbol lands they will lock into place in the grid and the rest of the grid will respin. If another fish lands in an open slot you respin again, if no fish or kingfisher lands you lose a heart. This can continue until you have no hearts or the grid is full of symbols.

Conclusion
Fortune Kingfisher strips things back to basics with the 3×3 format, but it does not lose the Kingfisher feel. Cracking eggs and getting those egg modifiers when they finally crack open. Sure, with fewer reels and symbols, it is a simpler experience than its pirate or pharaoh-themed predecessors. The bonus round still delivers and the higher than normal 96.82% RTP does not hurt either. That said, the lower max win (compared to other modern slots) and limited base game action might not be enough for some players. Still, if you’re already a fan of the Kingfisher series or you enjoy slots with light strategy and a fun theme, Fortune Kingfisher is worth cracking into.
