Freaked Out Fish is an online slot game developed by Blue Guru Games. Unlike many other fish-themed slots, Freaked Out Fish takes a unique approach with its psychedelic visuals and surreal atmosphere. The game presents a 7×7 grid with very colourful, trippy graphics that draw inspiration from the 60’s. Audio is very groovy too, with a retro psychedelic rock soundtrack for a complete throwback experience. Blue Guru Games, known for their creative and unconventional slot designs, has crafted Freaked Out Fish to stand out in the crowded online slot market and perhaps hit some nostalgic notes among the more veteran players.

How To Play Freaked Out Fish Quick Guide
Freaked Out Fish features an unusual 7×7 grid, and winning combinations are formed by matching at least five symbols in a cluster. If you want to get a feel for the game, then we suggest some free play on a Freaked Out Fish demo slot. Try it here, or you can play demo slots at online casinos. But usually only once you’ve registered an account and verified your age. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to get into this psychedelic dream.
- Set Your Bet: Begin by choosing your bet amount, up to £30. If you want to increase your chances of triggering the free spins, you can activate the Ante Bet, which raises your stake by 50%.
- Spin the Reels: Once your bet is set, hit the spin button. Winning clusters will disappear, allowing new quirky fish and flowers to cascade down, potentially leading to additional wins from a single spin.
- Special Features: Freaky Fish Zones, which are areas that can get multipliers with consecutive wins. There’s also a Mega Whale feature that can create a 3×3 cluster.
- Triggering Free Spins: The free spins feature is triggered by landing three or more scatter symbols, anywhere on the grid. During free spins, any Freaky Fish Zones you’ve created will stay active.
Winning Combinations & Payouts
In Freaked Out Fish, winning combinations are formed by landing clusters of five or more matching symbols. There is a total of seven regular symbols, and payout potentials depend on the size of the clusters they form.
High-Paying Psychedelic Fish: There are four fish characters which offer the highest payouts. Landing clusters of five will pay between 0.4x to 2x your bet, whereas the maximum cluster size of 15 to 49 matching symbols, can give payouts ranging from 40x to 300x your bet.
Low-Paying Symbols: Flowers and mushroom symbols are at the lower end of the payout spectrum. Clusters pay out between 0.4x – 60x.
Special Symbols
There aren’t many special symbols to keep track of in Freaked Out Fish, compared to other fishing slots. Rainbow vinyl records are the scatter symbols in the game. You need to land at least 3 scatter symbols to trigger the free spins bonus round. Since there are 7 reels, you can land up to 7 scatters. So, you can land receive between 10 – 30 free spins.
Base Game Features
All features except the free spins can appear in both the base game and the free spins bonus round.
Freaky Fish Zones: When you land a winning combination, the positions of those winning symbols are marked, creating a Freaky Fish Zone. If you manage to land another winning combination on the same highlighted positions, a multiplier is added. The multiplier starts at 2x and doubles with each consecutive win on the same spot, up to a maximum of 128x. So, the game is similar to Oxygen from Elk Studios or Pragmatic’s iconic Suger Rush slot.
However, in the base game, these zones reset at the end of each spin, so you need consecutive wins within a single spin sequence to build up these multipliers.
Mega Whale Feature: The Mega Whale feature can randomly activate during any spin in the base game. When triggered, the Mega Whale selects a random symbol on the grid and transforms a block of surrounding symbols into a 3×3 winning cluster.
Extra Freaky Fish Zones: Extra Freaky Fish Zones feature might trigger during the base game, creating additional Freaky Fish Zones without needing a winning combination.
Freaked Out Fish Bonus Game
Free Spins are the bonus round in Freaked Out Fish and are triggered by landing at least 3 scatters anywhere on the reels. Max free spins you can get is 30 by landing 7 scatters. Scatters remain active during the bonus round and can re-trigger more free spins.
The main feature of the free spins bonus round is the Freaky Fish Zones. During the Free Spins, they do not reset on each spin but remain for the whole bonus round. Thus, you can build up that multiplier to its maximum of 128x. All other features such as the Mega Whale feature and Extra Freaky Fish Zones are also active during free spins, same as in the base game.
Bonus Buys
If you live in a country that allows bonus buys, then you have 3 options: 90x, 150x or 550x. Each bonus buy option guarantees more scatters: 3; 4-5; 6-7, respectively. So, the higher the bonus buy, the more free spins you are guaranteed. RTP increases slightly when utilizing the bonus buy feature.

Conclusion
Freaked Out Fish by Blue Guru Games is a visually fun slot game with its 60’s psychedelic twist. The game does not have the usual fish collection mechanic that you get in fishing slots such as Big Bass Bonanza or Fishin Frenzy. Instead, it takes some inspiration from other cluster pay slots like Sugar Rush, but it has some of its own things going on, such as Freaky Fish Zones and the Mega Whale. Multipliers can grow up to 128x, which can become substantial payouts during the free spins round where these multipliers persist. Graphics might be annoying to some players, but the 30,000x max win potential is a big draw to this game.
