Razor Ways is a slot developed by Push Gaming. This game is the latest addition in 2024 to the popular series, which began with Razor Shark and continued with Razor Returns. Razor Ways changes things up a bit from its predecessors by switching from pay lines to win ways, for more fresh and modern gameplay. The slot is set in the ocean depths, and the game features a cartoon-like, clean design with a nice soundtrack and retains the familiar shark-themed symbols. It also offers a large variety of features right from the start of gameplay that we will take a closer look at in this slot review.

- Set Your Bet and Spin: Bets range from 10p – £100. Click the spin button to start the game. Winning combinations are formed by matching symbols from left to right on adjacent reels. Razor Ways starts with 729 ways to win, which can expand to 46,656 ways. When a winning combination is formed, the winning symbols disappear, and new symbols cascade down to fill the gaps.
- Unlock Rows: The game starts with 3 rows unlocked. Each win or instant prize, unlocks an additional row, up to a maximum of 6 rows.
- Special Features: Mystery Symbols can land anywhere on the reels. When they do, they transform into one of the following: regular pay symbols, wild symbols, expanding wilds or golden shark symbols. Expanding wilds cover entire reels. In the base game, expanding wilds cover unlocked rows. Whereas in free spins, they can cover entire reels and come with win multipliers. Landing 3 or more scatter symbols will trigger the free spins bonus round.
- Razor Reveal Feature: When mystery symbols land on at least 3 consecutive reels, they turn into golden shark symbols. This feature can award instant prizes, multipliers or collectors, which can lead to big wins.
- Push Bet Options: Three ante bet options are available: Scatter Push Bet, Mystery Push Bet, and Mystery and Scatter Push Bet. For the Mystery and Scatter push bet option, you will need to cough up 4 times your betting stake per bet.
Winning Combinations & Payouts
There are 11 common symbols in Razor Ways, some low paying, some medium paying and some high paying. Winning combinations occur when matching symbols land on consecutive reels, from left to right. After each win, winning symbols cascade and a new row is unlocked for more win ways.
- Low-Paying Symbols: Blue Seastar, Green Seastar, Purple Seastar and Orange Seastar. All low paying symbols pay up to 0.5x.
- Medium-Paying Symbols: Compasses, Flippers and Diving Helmets carry medium values. Payouts range from 0.2x – 1x.
- High-Paying Symbols: Sharks are high paying symbols. Here we have the usual blue, green, purple and orange shark symbols. Payouts range from 0.4x – 5x.
Special Symbols
You get several special symbols, more than you’re probably are used to from other fishing slots.
Wild Converter Symbol
When this lands, it spins through and randomly selects one of the regular paying symbols. All these symbols, along with the converter, will then turn into wild symbols.
Scatter Symbol
Landing 3 or more scatter symbols triggers the free spins feature. The more scatters you land, the more free spins and the higher the initial multiplier, you receive.
Golden Shark
Appears during a Razor Reveal feature. When it lands, it triggers a spin to reveal either instant payouts, multipliers or collector symbols. Instant payouts can reach over 1,000x.
Expanding Wilds
A new symbol in the Razor series. In the base game, they cover unlocked rows. During free spins, they unlock rows and cover the entire reel with a win multiplier of 2x to 5x.
Mystery Symbol
Lands anywhere in the base game or free spins and transforms into common symbols, wilds, expanding wilds, convertor wilds or golden shark symbols.
Base Game Features
Razor Ways has quite a few features that are available in the base game. It is always nice to see slots that don’t put all the action in the bonus rounds. Moreover, the push bet options are a nice addition too the series. We were treated to some in Razor Returns, the second slot in the series.
Mystery Symbols: These symbols can land anywhere on the reels during the base game. When they land, they reveal one of several possible outcomes: regular pay symbols, wild symbols, expanding wilds or golden shark symbols.
Expanding Wilds: These special wild symbols can appear on the reels, expanding to cover all positions on their reel. In the base game, they expand to cover only the unlocked rows.
Push Bet: The Push bet comes with options which will boost your chances of landing scatters or mystery symbols or both.
- Scatter Push Bet: Increases your stake by 1.4x to boost the chances of landing scatter symbols.
- Mystery Push Bet: Raises your stake to 3x and guarantees 2 mystery symbols on unlocked rows with each spin.
- Mystery and Scatter Push Bet: Increases your stake to 4x, guaranteeing 2 mystery symbols on unlocked rows and enhancing the chances of landing scatter symbols.
Razor Reveal Feature (Golden Shark)
When Mystery symbols appear on at least three consecutive reels during the base or bonus game, they can transform into Golden Shark symbols, activating the Razor Reveal feature. Mystery symbols can also randomly change into Golden Shark symbols, even if they’re not on consecutive reels. Here’s what you can get from the Razor Reveal feature.
- Instant Prize Symbol: This symbol awards bet multipliers ranging from 1x – 5,000x your bet.
- Multiplier Symbol: Multiplies the values of instant prize and collector symbols on the reels by 2x – 10x. The empty positions spin to reveal new symbols.
- Collector Symbol: Collects all values from instant prize and collector symbols on the reels. Instant prize symbols are removed once collected. Collector symbols remain on the reels throughout the Razor Reveal feature.
- Converter Symbol: Changes regular pay symbols on unlocked reels into Golden Shark symbols, including the converter symbol itself. Therefore, the Razor Reveal feature continues.
- Scatter Symbol: Only in the base game.
- Row Unlocker Symbol (only when you use bonus buy): Unlocks a row and then is removed. Empty positions spin to reveal new symbols.

Razor Ways FAQ
You trigger the free spins feature by landing 3 or more scatter symbols anywhere on the reels or during a Razor Reveal feature. If you reside in a region that allows bonus buys, then you can purchase one of 5 bonus round options, ranging from 73x – 466x your betting stake.
Standard RTP of Razor Ways is 96.36%. However, there are lower RTP versions online, as low as 85.26%.
There is a max win of 25,000x. You can achieve this in the free spins bonus round by upgrading to a 10x win multiplier and landing high value golden shark coin symbols over 1,000x.
Conclusion
Razor Ways is a very solid addition to the Razor series. Familiar graphics with fresh new mechanics will keep the fan base happy. A switch to win ways with cascading wins is a welcomed change. Expanding wilds and other new features, especially the push bet options, make gameplay more enjoyable.
Slightly lower volatility means more frequent wins, which is good considering there are cascading wins. This keeps in line with original seaweed nudge feature we’ve come to associate with Push Gaming fishing slots. Even though there has been a significant drop in max win potential, this game still has an impressive payout.
Overall, we feel that Razor Ways offers enough new elements to keep things interesting while maintaining the charm that fans of the series appreciate.
