Winning Combinations & Payouts
To get a winning spin in Riptide Fishing, you need to land at least three matching symbols across a pay line, starting from left to right. There are 9 common symbols in the game, consisting of low, medium and high value symbols.
- Low-paying symbols: Card symbols (J, Q, K, A) have low values and pay out between 0.2x – 1.2x.
- Medium-paying symbols: Dragonflies and Floats are medium value symbols. They pay out between 0.3x – 2.4x.

Special Symbols
In Riptide Fishing there are also 3 special symbols: Wilds, Starfish and Scatters.
Wild Symbol
The Wild symbol substitutes for all regular symbols. However, it doesn’t replace Starfish or Scatter symbols. When you fill up the stars on a reel, then a walking stacked wild is triggered. You can trigger more than one stacked wild reel at the same time.
Riptide Symbol
Each reel has a Riptide Collection meter that fills up when golden starfishland on the reels. Once filled, the Riptide feature activates, transforming an entire reel into a stacked wild. This feature is enhanced when multiple Riptide Wild Stacks are active at once, adding a multiplier.
Fishing Bonus Symbol
Landing three scatter symbols anywhere on the reels, triggers the bonus game with up to four fishermen. The number of fishermen depends on how many scatter symbols you collected, via the Bonus Booster in the base game.
Base Game Features
The special features available in the base game are the Riptide feature and also the bonus booster meters.
- Riptide Feature: Under each reel, you have a Riptide Collection meter that fills up with stars. Once a meter is filled, the Riptide feature activates on the next spin, and the entire reel turns into a stacked wild. This wild stack then moves to the left with each spin, and can be active for several spins. If another Riptide Wild Stack is triggered while one is already active, then a 2x multiplier is applied. Each consecutive trigger, raises the multiplier by 1.
- Bonus Booster: Every time a scatter symbol lands, it adds to a Bonus Booster meter. Once filled, this meter boosts the upcoming Fishing Bonus round by unlocking additional fishermen. You may be familiar with this feature from other Games Global fishing slots: Unusual Catch, Andvari the Golden Fish, Fish Em Up and Fintastic Fishing.
Riptide Fishing Bonus Game
In Riptide Fishing slot, the bonus round is called the Fishing Bonus. To trigger this round, you need to land at least three scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. The round begins with 1 – 4 fishermen, depending on how many scatters you collected in the base game.
The bonus round is a hold & win feature. Thus, you do not have free spins. Unlike other hold and win slots, this bonus round includes fishermen dropping their lines, trying to reel in fish and bonus modifiers. Each fisherman gets three casts to catch fish. If you catch a fish, then your number of casts resets back to three.
What Can I Catch In the Fishing Round
Fish and Jackpots: Fish caught during the bonus round offer payouts, ranging from 2x to 10x. There are also 4 special jackpot fish with values up to 5,000x. To land a jackpot win, you need to collect each jackpot fish a certain number of times.
- 1 Super Jackpot Fish: Awards the 15x Super Jackpot.
- 2 Major Jackpot Fish: Awards the 50x Major Jackpot.
- 3 Mega Jackpot Fish: Awards the 200x Mega Jackpot.
- 4 Max Jackpot Fish: Awards the 5,000x Max Jackpot.
Goldfish Boosters: Goldfish carry random prizes. These can include instant cash wins (10x, 20x, 50x or 100x), win multipliers (2x, 3x or 5x) or Boosters that increase values of other fish. There is also a Persistent Booster feature that applies a multiplier to every fish caught in upcoming rounds.
Jackpot Hunter and More Fish Symbols: The Jackpot Hunter helps players by catching one of each type of jackpot fish. More Fish symbols add seven extra fish to the bonus round. Thus, increasing your chances of reeling in more fish.
The Fishing Bonus ends once all fishermen run out of attempts without catching a fish.

Conclusion
Riptide Fishing slot has engaging gameplay with high volatility. The stand-out features, Riptide Wild Stacks and the Fishing Bonus round, can unlock some nice payouts. Games Global studios have a tendency to copy slot and bonus mechanics from each other. Thus, some slots appear to be clones of games from other studios in the group. For example, the bonus boost element has been used many times before.
Overall, we think this fishing slot is well executed and the hold & win bonus round is quite unique. Instead of a slot grid with spinning reels, trying to land coins or other symbols, here we have a fisherman trying to hook up some fish. So, we appreciate the effort to make the bonus round match the theme of the game. The 5,000x max win might not be the highest, but it is still respectable. If you want to play Riptide Fishing, then on to one of our casinos and give it a try.
