Samurai Code is an online slot developed by Pragmatic Play in collaboration with Reel Kingdom. This game features a unique blend of traditional Japanese warrior themes with the popular mechanics found in the Big Bass series. Unlike other fishing-themed slots, Samurai Code transports players to the era of the Samurai, known for their strict code of honour, the Samurai Code called Bushido, way of the warrior.
Samurai was considered the personification of loyalty and martial prowess in ancient Japan. It’s not all about the katana wielders though, we do get the iconic Koi fish in this slot. Did you know that Koi fish represents luck, prosperity, good fortune, and also of perseverance in the face of adversity in Japanese culture? Which is very fitting for slots. So, what fortunes await in Pragmatic’s Samurai Code?

How To Play Samurai Code Free Demo Slot
How To Play Samurai Code Quick Guide
Playing Samurai Code is very straightforward. But to get a feel for the game, we suggest free play in demo mode first. As soon as you’ve signed up at one of our recommended casinos and passed the age verification, then you can play Samurai Code for free in demo mode. The game engine is based on the same engine used in the Big Bass Bonanza slots. Here’s a step-by-step guide to get you started with Samurai Code.
- Set Your Bet: Choose your bet amount from £0.12 to £240 per spin. The ante bet increases your chances of triggering the bonus features, but you will be paying 50% more per spin.
- Spin the Reels: Click the spin button to start the game. Samurai Code features both low-paying and high-paying symbols. You will need to match at least 3 symbols on a pay line for a win.
- Special Symbols: Wilds substitute for other symbols to help you get winning combos. Scatters trigger the free spins round.
- Trigger Free Spins: Land 3, 4, or 5 scatter symbols anywhere on the reels to trigger 10, 15, or 20 free spins, respectively. During the free spins, wilds collect the cash values of the koi fish symbols.
Winning Combinations & Payouts
In total there are 9 common symbols. To form winning combos, you need to match at least 3 adjacent symbols, on a pay line, from left to right. Geisha symbols are the top symbols and they only require 2 symbols for a minimum win.
- Low-Paying Symbols: 10, J, Q, K, A card ranks are the low-paying symbols. Payouts range from 0.5x – 10x.
- High-Paying Symbols: Dragonflies, Swords, Treasure Chests and Geishas are high value symbols. Payouts range from 1x – 200x.
- Koi Cash Symbols: Koi symbols have two payout options. Firstly, they act as regular paying symbols, with payouts of 1x and 5x for 3 or 4 matching Koi symbols on a pay line. If you complete a 5OAK, then you receive the combined cash value of all koi symbols on the pay line. Secondly, during free spins, their cash values are collected by the Samurai. Koi fish can carry cash values, ranging from 2x – 4,000x.
Special Symbols
Wilds and Scatters are special symbols in Samurai Code.
Samurai Wild
A Samurai warrior is the wild symbol and only appears during the free spins round. It mimics all common symbols and helps create winning combinations. Wilds also collect any cash values from koi fish, visible on the reels.
Golden Samurai Mask Scatter
Scatter symbols can appear on any reels, during the base game. Landing 3, 4, or 5 Scatter symbols anywhere on the reels triggers the free spins round, awarding 10, 15, or 20 free spins, respectively.
Samurai Code Bonus Game
To reach the bonus round, you need to land at least 3 scatter symbols. Otherwise, where available, you can buy the bonus feature for 100x your bet. Landing 3,4 or 5 scatters will award you 10, 15, or 20 free spins, respectively. When the free spins start, wild symbols will become active and bonus trail will appear above the reels. If you’ve ever played popular Pragmatic slots, such as Big Bass Splash and Big Bass Amazon Xtreme, then you will recognize how the feature works.
During the free spins, each wild that lands on the reels, collects cash values of Koi symbols. Every wild symbol that lands is added to the bonus trail. For every fourth wild collected, a milestone is reached. Thus, rewarding you with 10 more spins and higher win multiplier.
- First Milestone: 10 extra spins and a 2x multiplier.
- Second Milestone: 10 extra spins and a 3x multiplier.
- Third Milestone: 10 extra spins and a 10x multiplier.
Free Spins Features
- Money Symbol Appearances: When only wild symbols land without koi symbols, then koi symbols can randomly appear on the reels, for extra wins.
- Sword Feature: On any give spin, 1 or 2 katana swords appear randomly. They pull up the slot reels, like a nudging mechanism, to reveal wild and koi symbols.
Samurai Code FAQ
The high range RTP of Samurai Code is 96.08%. This remains the same whether you use the ante bet or not. But, you may find lower RTP versions at some casino sites.
A bonus buy costs 100x your current bet. This guarantees 3 scatter symbols. But, you need to be in a region that allows bonus buys.
The maximum win is set at 4,000x. You can achieve this by accumulating wins up to 4,000x in the bonus round or by directly collecting a koi fish symbol with a 4,000x cash value.
Conclusion
This is another, and we say it loosely, fishing slot by Pragmatic Play. It is yet another clone of the highly successful Big Bass Splash game, aimed towards an Asian audience. Graphics are quite nice and the theme is cool with its samurai and Japanese influences. The max win of 4,000x is somewhat on the lower end compared to other Pragmatic slots. Overall, the plot twist and change in scenery is quite refreshing, yet the gameplay is still the same. So, if you want to try out another clone, go right ahead. Otherwise you can just play the original game.
